Area Information :In a quiet neighbourhood, you will be seduced by the serenity and authenticity of this family House. You will enjoy the view of the Dordorgne and the park. You will enjoy the private swimming pool and the huge park. The castle is located in the countryside, the presence of a beautiful farm at the back of the castle separated by a bamboo plantation.
Why visit :A history dating back to before the French Revolution, linked to the great Gironde family Du Perier de Larsan. Before the construction of Château Couffins, the 1723 cartographic survey by Claude MASSE, engineer to King Louis XV of France, does not yet indicate a castle in the loop that the Dordogne forms after Cubzac-les-Ponts, opposite Caverne. This river forming a "basket" (a couffin in French) could have suggested the name of Château Couffins. The construction of Château Couffins would be the initiative of the great Gironde family DU PERIER de LARSAN long before the French Revolution. The castle inherits the neoclassical architectural style, and its main vocation was to become a land of vineyards.

Simply a magical moment in this exceptional place!

Simply a magical moment in this exceptional place! The owners are of kindness and benevolence without limit !!! We literally fell in love with the castle and its park in the hollow of a meander of the Dordogne. Whether for a wedding (our case), a special event or a family stay come without hesitation. We are already thinking about going back :) (Original) Tout simplement un moment magique en ce lieu d'exception !

Chateau Couffins was a perfect home for our family of 16 over New Year Holiday!

Chateau Couffins was a perfect home for our family of 16 over New Year Holiday! Nathalie greeted us when we arrived and showed us everything we needed to know. We were all able to have our own space and the common areas were wonderful to gather in, especially the kitchen/dining area. Nathalie is also a vintner and her wines were available for purchase for a very reasonable price. The kitchen was extremely well-stocked and made cooking our many meals a pleasure. It would be fun to be there in warm weather to take advantage of the pool and lawn area. Highly recommended!

This Château provided a wonderful experience

This Château provided a wonderful experience for 9 of us. The place is ideal for a max of 12 in my opinion as there are only 6 bathrooms. The property is beautifully located on the river and good value for what they charge. Why did I give it a 4 instead of a 5, there are some things that need improvement, despite overall it being a good experience. First, the furniture is rather dated and needs some investment. It was hard to get links to the chef and the transport. In the end I organized the transport myself, using tours by locals, after the lady’s recommendation did not respond. The first chef did not respond but the second one was amazing. He was not cheap, as the average per person dinner charge was 50 euros, but provided Michelin quality food in terms of taste, service, and presentation. Highly recommend Novelle Traiteur (Quentin). On the positive side, the place was quite well stocked with coffee, toilet papers, etc and we added by paying it forward. The linens and the towels were good. The bathrooms were adequate and the place was better heated than I expected. Overall, was a wonderful experience because of the people we were with, the place is conducive to having a good time provided you are not expecting luxury. When you first arrive it is at the back of the Château and so may be a bit taken aback as not what you expect. Perhaps they can make the back entrance, which is the first impression, look better.
