The standard of behavior from the hostess of this property is abysmal. I arrived on Friday 1 sept and confirmed a reservation for 5 nights. There was no hot water. The next morning the showed me that the water could actually become tepid but in this day and age one does not expect to bathe on cold or barely tepid water. In any event, the property advertises itself as providing breakfast but as of 11 am on my first day there was none. She grudgingly bought some dry bread, a teaspoon of fish and 2 slices of fruit. They claim not to have coffee and only use sweetened milk. She was hostile and retracted their offer to take me to collect my luggage for no reason other than they were too busy all of a sudden. I did not appreciate being asked personal, irrelevant questions such as my age or the last time I had been in the US - I do not see the relevance and the willingness not to respect the privacy of folks I see as a local habit that I find extremely off putting. I made no comment on it. However the lack of consideration became very apparent when I called on my way back to the property on the second day to get no answer from either cell phone or home line (as they live on the premises), to find the gate locked and to be left in the lurch which is what it seems they intended. Why do folks choose to be in the hospitality industry if this is their attitude? I was extremely inconvenienced and shocked and when I called the following day the hostess Veronica was unapologetic and indicated she did not want me as a guest. Most places would be embarrassed to display such petty behavior - in this case she seems to have no standards whatsoever. Having never met these folks I was also surprised at the hostess' claims to know whether or not I was familiar with the surrounding area and other matters which again I find irrelevant and highly out of place.
It's a beautiful place to go if you're a nature lover. The place is very green. Also, Mrs Veronica and her husband are great hosts. They're always present for their guest need. The only thing the place is a little bit from town. However, taxi and bus are easy to access to. It's perfect for a get away.
Me and my partner stayed 3 nights at Havenridge eco place and experienced it as a good place. Gregory came to pick us up from the airport with a warm welcome and on the way to the cottage explained to us about the public transport. On arrival we received a home made Trinidadian rum. The place is a quiet and green (although Trinidad is also suffering from a relatively long dry period), and Veronica and Gregory are very friendly owners who will do their utmost best to make you feel at home and comfortable. Although it can be a little difficult to get back to the place, because there are not many private taxi's going up to St. Cruz, it is a good place if you want to have a nature feeling around you. A walk up to the house in St. Cruz is also a relaxing walk. If you prefer the greens and want to stay in a nice cozy intimate place, than I sure do recommend Havenridge.
