For the second time we gathered our extended family (5 adult sons, three daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren, plus 3 grand-dogs) for a three night stay at The Lodge. Our kids and grandkids actually asked to go back, and we all enjoyed the second visit as much or more than the first. Bonus: One grandson and one daughter-in-law each caught their first fish and the john-boat got a lot of use. Had a raging fire in the fireplace the first two nights, and then got to use the very nice air conditioners the third night -- only in Texas!!! The house is extremely well-stocked. The decor can best be described as "rustic", but that's the way we like it.
Lovely and relaxing place with plenty of room for family and friends and everything you need for your stay. The water feature added to the relaxed vibe, and the kids loved going out in the rowboat on the pond. Away from it all but only 20 minutes from La Grange or Smithville.
Great stay. Had a bit of a wasp issue but handled it fairly quickly. We saw a family of deer near by which was super cool. The stars at night we’re big and bright lol . The cabin was clean with plenty of room to sit and relax. Great experience.
This was an outstanding gem of a venue! So interesting and accommodating. The stay, the facility, and the event were all perfect!
So many beds and bathrooms! Our group was very comfortable. Really enjoyed the lake and fishing, or course we put the fish back for the next group to catch. Thanks to the owner for his hospitality!
We found scorpion at one of the restrooms. Some of the bath rooms need the locks to be fixed. Other than that, the stay was great. Thx Seithur
Our retreat group has stayed at the Lodge 13 times now, and each time has provided a wonderful experience. The place is open and clean with so many places to sit and get work done or just enjoy the view. The homeowner is welcoming and goes out of his way to make sure we are taken care of. I am always amazed at how he thinks of every single detail. The lake is beautiful, and there is a wonderful walking trail nearby for those looking to get in some daily exercise. The kitchen is clean and easy to work in. The bathrooms have plenty of towels (very important in large groups). The bedrooms are spaced such that even snorers can be accommodated. In the winter, there is plenty of firewood for a cozy fire, making for the perfect social space. And the wildlife around is the icing on the cake, from birds to deer to squirrels. I would highly recommend the Lodge for groups looking for a perfect getaway!
The location was great! Loved the décor and the layout of the lodge. Beds were very comfy and place was very clean. One major plus for us is that our four legged family members (our dogs) were also welcomed! We will definitely return.

Absolutely love this house and will be coming back. The location was perfect for our family weekend get together and we all had a blast. Whether it was from the amazing hospitality from the host, animal and bird watching from the living room seating, to fishing for bass in the provided canoe and jon boats, to the eclectic interior decor there is no doubt that your family will love this place as much as we did. Thanks to Mr. Stiles for blessing our stay with his hospitality!!
