My boyfriend and I had a wonderful 4 days at C&K apartments. Castara is a dream destination. Very laid-back with a hippyish Jamaican vibe. Marvin was a great host. He arranged a pick-up from the airport and a ride back at the end of our stay. He also took us and the couple staying in the adjacent apartment to Englishman’s Bay and even cooked us goat curry one evening. The apartment itself has everything you could wish for. Ours had a huge bed with a mosquito net and a fully-equipped kitchen. I loved the natural wood, which gives the place a rustic feel. The best thing about the apartment, though, is the outside wrap-around terrace with a sea view, furnished with tables and chairs, a hammock and a sofa. It was lovely sitting watching the comings and goings of the locals and the resident hummingbird. Note this terrace is shared between the two apartments so it helps if you get along with your neighbours! The location in the village centre was ideal for us but bring your earplugs if you’re a light sleeper and are there on a Thursday night, when the local beach bar plays loud music until the small hours. It’s a fun night, though, with a pan steel band, beach bonfire and a dancer on stilts earlier in the evening. Also don’t miss the African drumming and limbo dancing at the Boathouse at the smaller beach if you’re there in a Wednesday. All in all a great place to stay. Would love to go back.
The room itself is big and spacious with a massive bed, a fully functioning kitchen area, TV, bathroom, strong wi-fi and (perhaps most importantly) very good aircon. There is a balcony with table and a hammock that was very relaxing. The location of the apartments is fantastic, just minutes from the beach as well as a local supermarket and a handful or restaurants. Marvin was really helpful and friendly, helping us organise taxis. When our taxi to the airport didn't show at 3am, Marvin himself took us back which was really appreciated. We had a lovely holiday here, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the apartments to anyone wanting to travel to the area.
We stumbled upon this apartment on Hotels.com. It was more or less the only one left the time we wanted to go to Castara and I am so happy we did! The bar under the apartment is were the owner works, Marvin. The appartment have a kitchen area and a nice bathroom with a shower. The stove runs on gas and works perfektly! The bed is 2 singles put together into one BIG bed. Towels and beddings are soft and clean.
C & K is very close to the beach. And its nice to sit on the wooden built balcony and relax and look out on the sea. When you feel like you can always step down to the centre of the village in just a few seconds. With nice bars and good restaurants. At this place you are in the middle of the village and will not miss anything going on. The service is excellent and very friendly and the owner lives just beside the place and is easily reached in the bar he owns close to the room. The room is newly built and fresh with nice aircon that gives a good chance to cool down when it gets hot outside.
Would agree absolutely with the previous review, having visited and stayed in Castara a number of times over the last 10 years or so, our two week stay here was our favourite. A spacious, comfortable apartment with a nice big bed, C nand K apartments are right at the centre of Castara village life.. From the balcony you can watch the local comings and goings, there's a handy shop just opposite from which you can buy fruit/veg/coffee/milk etc.. We catered for ourselves mostly, and got the majority of our supplies from here..'DJ's mini mart': really nice guy. Importantly if you're thinking of booking here, we wondered if being directly above a bar might be a bit noisy later in the evening... Far from it, slept better here than anywhere we've stayed on the island...lovely peaceful nights. Of course, village life begins quite early most mornings, but once you've tuned out the ever present cockerels, you get a great nights sleep. The proprietor, Marvin Lewis, is a great man. Extremely friendly, courteous , generous and supportive, nothing is too much trouble. Would wholeheartedly recommend this place. Hopefully Marvin will have room for us this time next year!
