Being a graduate of Appalachian State University and spending a lot of years skiing and enjoying the outdoors, the male part of the team was immediately drawn to the Boone Blowing Rock area. The female part of the team saw nothing but two small towns with a limited amount to do and to experience. To her, the Asheville area presented a wealth of different experiences. In year's past, the couple had spent many hours hiking, and rafting in and around the Asheville. The memories of the many small
This was an excellent home for a family gathering. It was well appointed and comfortable. Communications and check in were incredible! I could not more strongly recommend a house!
This home has a beautifully appointed decor and the most well stocked kitchen we have ever seen in rentals. One member of our family is a chef and she was so pleased with the appliances and cooking necessities. The porch allowed a relaxing retreat to watch the fire and listen to the creek waters. We all needed this getaway!
Great cabin. Great location. Very warm and relaxing. 1st class.
Even with rain most of our stay, we enjoyed the location and the amenities this home had to offer. We hiked to the waterfall, watched movies, and worked puzzles. We had a great time!
The lodge is absolutely beautiful!! We went with my entire family (6 adults and 6 children), and we had tons of space for everyone. The movie theater was our absolute favorite place where we created many lasting memories. Our only complaint was how far the house is away from everything. We did many activities around the area (Biltmore House, ziplining, rafting, and hiking the Blue Ridge Parkway) which took a minimum of 30 minutes to get anywhere. Some of the hiking locations were an hour away. This house is a beautiful getaway, but be prepared to drive if you are looking to explore outside of the Catawba Preserve.
Our family of eight had a wonderful vacation staying at this large, beautiful, private log cabin in Black Mountain, NC. So many wonderful amenities: large master suite with access to upper deck; open concept kitchen, dining, and living room for cooking together, sharing meals and conversation, playing games...; theater room for movie nights; two large decks (upper deck has a fireplace, grill, and furniture) which we used every single day; and so much more. We hiked Catawba Falls, visited the Biltmore Estate in Asheville (only 20 minutes away), and checked out Asheville's historic downtown and the small nearby communities of Old Fort and Black Mountain. Our family highly recommends this home for your next VRBO adventure!
We took 10 of our students away during spring break to thank them for their service to the university. We usually go to a city, such as Charleston or Savannah, but this year, they wanted to go to the mountains. The lodge was a perfect place for us. There were ample bedrooms and bathrooms, and the students particularly enjoyed the open master room, the theatre downstairs and the game room upstairs. There were numerous hiking trails to explore, and there was easy access to Biltmore and to Asheville. It was a perfect house in a perfect setting.
What a great vacation we had at this beautiful house in the mountains! Susan and Frank are so amazing and answered every question we had within minutes of asking. I felt “home” in their house. It was well and thoroughly stocked, we didn’t need for anything. We had 10 people with us and everyone had plenty of space. We loved every minute of our stay!
The pictures don't do this house justice. It's an amazing property overall. The house is gorgeous; there's wood throughout, the decor is perfect and the owners have left no stone unturned. If you're looking for a great getaway where everything is thought out this is the one. I was there for my 40th birthday and a lot of family. 8 of us fit comfortably with room to spare. The grocery store is less than 15 minutes away. Asheville is probably around 30-35 mins tops, Chimney Rock is 25 mis away and the Biltmore is about 30-35 mins as well. It's a good location overall. We felt safe. We saw 3 deer 20 feet away too. I can't say enough good things. The theatre room is incredibly cool too. I never dreamt we'd use it but did because it was so unique. Lastly the game room was great for the kids and adults. There's foosball, air hockey ( a real table too) and darts.
