Islamorada is the place for you if you wish to fish in the "Sports Fishing Capital of the World". Islamorada, Florida, or 'village of islands' is made up of the six islands of Plantation Key, Windley Key, Upper Matecumbe, Lower Matecumbe, and the offshore islands of Lignumvitae Key and Indian Key.  
Islamorada meaning “purple Isle" and is the place where the big fish come to fish! Presidents like Jimmy Carter, Harry S. Truman, and George Bush senior used to visit the place to find large game fish. Fishing isn't Islamorada's s sole claim to fame. The Long Key State Recreation Area was named by the Spanish as  "Cayo Vivora" or Rattlesnake Key because its shape resembles a snake with open jaws. The park is one of the best places in the Upper Keys for canoeing, snorkeling, and hiking. For all those trail lovers, the park has the Golden Orb trail, named for the magnificent red and gold spiders.
Found in the Upper Keys on Florida is the region of Islamorada. It is often called the "Village of Islands," as it is spread over a number of the Upper Keys. This range, however, opens up Islamorada to a number of fun activities for vacationers in the region.
